What issues are important to you?
Accessibility and Accountability in Student Government. For too long the same couple dozen students have been participating in Student Government. I want to work toward opening up these decision-making bodies to a larger population of students. I also want to ensure that students of color, gay and lesbian students, returning/'non-traditional' students, student parents and first generation students are treated fairly and contribute to the student government process.
What is your first political experience?
My parents always encouraged me to be open-minded so I was voicing my opinion at an early age. I think that probably the first organized political work was for gay and lesbian issues in high school. I have participated in pride parades and was part of a student gay/straight alliance group. I also have experience working on Women's issues like: anti-violence, anti-racism, and anti-oppression. I served as an ASPSU senator and have worked within student activities for the last 5 years.

My three GOALS for next year as follows:
A) Creating an inclusive, multicultural student goverment that encourages participation and progressive thought. More face to face contact for students and their government by having weekly forums. Also by creating a mechanism for keeping student government accountable by making the process more transparent, and encouraging student critique.
B) Ensuring PSU is accessible by working to keep tuition down and lobby in the state legislature to ensure scholarships and grants are made available like the Oregon Opportunity Grant and the Child Care Block Grant
C) Working to keep educational costs down by working with student groups in creating a book swap where students can exchange and buy books at a lower price.

If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead who would it be?
* Margaret Cho--I love her wit and she is always provocative--She uses her humor to talk about issues no one else does.
* Shirley Chrisholm--An amazing legislator and a advocate of civil rights. Below is just one reasons why she is an eloquent and important political figure:
On January 25, 1972, Chisholm announced her candidacy for president. She stood before the cameras and in the beginning of her speech she said,
"I stand before you today as a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the Presidency of the United States. I am not the candidate of black America, although I am black and proud. I am not the candidate of the women's movement of this country, although I am a woman, and I am equally proud of that. I am not the candidate of any political bosses or special interests. I am the candidate of the people."
